Continental tyres announced as Ultra high performance tyre supplier to Project Kahn
Mar 25, 2020
Continental tyres have been announced as the preferred ultra high performance tyre supplier to Kahn Design.
As the only High Performance Partner, Continental will support all on- road tyre applications for Kahn Design and Project Kahn vehicles, with the latest Range Rover models running on 285/35R23 107Y XL FR SportContact 6 RO1 ContiSilent.
Kahn Design is synonymous with vehicle conversions, luxury bespoke leather interiors, light alloy wheels, aerodynamic body styling, hence the company’s mantra is ‚‘The Road Is My Catwalk‘.
Kahn Design along with Project Kahn, which is the high performance and Range Rover arm of the business, demand the best fitment when it comes to tyre specification. Continental has been no stranger to supporting Kahn over the last ten years, acting as the preferred supplier for all on-road vehicles. The current vehicle range sees fitments of 23“ Continental SportContact 6 tyres supplied to both the Lamborghini Urus and Bentley Bentayga models. .
The Continental tuning department has 27 years’ experience in supporting its customers in the business of vehicle conversion, performance enhancement and handling optimisation. Tyre choice plays a critical role for such high-end tuning partners, and the SportContact 6 perfectly meets the needs of performance vehicles.
Afzal Kahn, Kahn Design’s founder, chief designer and C.E.O said: “We are thrilled to formerly [AS(1] build on our work with Continental tyres as our preferred high performance tyre supplier. Over the last ten years Project Kahn and Kahn design have pushed the boundaries of excellence and design. Our customer demands are high, and tyres form an essential part of the look and feel of our product. The Continental SportContact 6 is used across our complete range, showing our trust and confidence in the performance delivered.”
The distinguishing characteristic of an ultra-high-performance tyre is not just the size, but also its superior competency in the most demanding of situations. With a set of UHP tyres fitted to a performance car, you can expect a sporty ride, smoother lane changes, plus enhanced steering precision and cornering stability.
The engineers at Continental have worked tirelessly to develop a range of UHP tyres that can handle the increased speeds, torque, and G-forces produced by the extra horsepower, enhanced brakes, and sports-tuned suspension of vehicles delivered by producers such as Kahn Design.
Over time, the world-class engineers and technicians at Continental have devised a vast number of technologies to dramatically enhance tyre performance characteristics. More than just a new rubber compound, Black Chili is based on the latest findings in polymer and raw material research. A “Micro Flexibility Compound” ensures optimal interlocking between the tyre and the surface of the road, providing better acceleration and safety reserves for all Kahn Design vehicles.
Continental has a long history of product excellence and commitment to redefine UHP performance. Its High-Performance Technology Center (HTPC) has been in operation since June 2016. It currently produces extremely sophisticated high-speed tyres for performance sports cars and SUVs. Some 350,000 tyres roll off the production line every year.
