Chelsea Truck Company: Year in review
Mar 23, 2020

2016 was a significant year for the Chelsea Truck Company, as the last Defender rolled off the Land Rover production line in January, marking the end of 67 years of production for the iconic 4x4.

As one of our most popular models, the Chelsea Wide Track Defender has taken centre stage at many of the events and exhibitions we’ve attended over the years and will remain an important part of our company’s history.

Whilst we are understandably sad to see it go, the good news is that we were able to source a significant number of the last production Defenders and still have a handful of dealer mileage vehicles available, both in the 90 and 110 variant.

As expected, these are now rocketing in value and demand is high. If you would like the opportunity to purchase one of the last Chelsea Truck Company Defenders we would recommend getting in touch soon.

If you’re already a Defender owner, you will of course still be able to benefit from our extensive range of interior and exterior components and purpose designed wheels, as well as the option of booking your vehicle into our workshop for a full Chelsea Wide Track conversion.

2016 also saw a complete overhaul of our Jeep Wrangler styling programme with the world premiere of the Black Hawk Edition at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

As a personal project headed by Design Director Afzal Kahn, the painstaking attention to detail and passion for perfection is clear to see in the finished product.

With every component tailor-made and precisely engineered, the build quality is comparable to that of a fully coachbuilt vehicle. The result is a unique vehicle in a league of its own, and unlike anything on the market today.

This is reflected in the recent independent assessment of the Black Hawk’s value by trade price specialists CAP, who awarded it a 35% higher residual value than the standard Jeep Wrangler model.

We’ve also completed the first prototypes of the upcoming Chelsea Truck Company Mercedes-Benz G Class. The new vehicle will premiere at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, from the 9th to the 19th of March.

As we enter 2017, we’re looking forward to another year of innovation, creativity and inspiration. We would like to wish all our customers, friends and supporters a happy and healthy New Year.
